Step One:
Create text by clicking on the “A” icon on the toolbar to the left or by pressing “ctrl-t” on your keyboard.
Step Two:
We are going to flatten the text layer by selecting it then clicking “modify” on the top and “flatten selection” or by pressing “ctrl-alt-shift-z”
Step Three:
Now we are going to duplicate the layer by hitting “ctrl-c” then “ctrl-v” and were going to take one of the layers and apply a mask to it.
Step Four:
Make sure the masked layer is selected and flip the text vertically by clicking “modify” then “transform” and “flip vertical.” Click on the fill selector drop down and select “gradient” then “linear.”
Step Five:
Now take the paint bucket click and drag down starting from about the middle of the top layer down to the middle of the bottom layer.
Step Six:
Now adjust the transparency to get the effect you want and move the bottom layer closer to the top one
Step Seven:
Select the distort tool and drag the bottom transform boxes points out.
